Steps

  1. Open the Step Sequencer

On an instrument track, click the 'Editors' button in the control bar or press 'E' to open the Editors area. In the Editors, select the 'Step Sequencer' tab to display the Step Sequencer interface, ready for pattern creation.

  2. Create a New Pattern Region

In the Tracks area, click an empty area on an instrument track and choose 'Create Pattern Region' from the contextual menu. This generates a default 16-step pattern, which will open in the Step Sequencer for immediate editing.

  3. Add and Edit Steps

Click directly on the steps within the Step Sequencer grid to activate or deactivate notes, triggering the corresponding MIDI event. Utilize the 'Velocity' lane to adjust individual step dynamics and the 'Gate' lane to modify note duration, shaping the groove of your pattern.

  4. Use Row Parameters

Explore the various row parameters available by clicking the '+' button next to 'Rows' to add new lanes like 'Note/Octave,' 'Automation,' or 'Chance.' These parameters allow for advanced control over pitch, effect automation, and the probability of a step triggering.
