Steps

  1. Insert the Gain Plugin on a Track

Select the track in the Tracks Area where you want to adjust the gain. In the Channel Strip Inspector (press 'I'), click on an empty 'Audio FX' slot for that track. Navigate to "Utility" > "Gain" and select it to add the plugin.

  2. Adjust Overall Track Gain

Open the Gain plugin interface. The main 'Gain' knob allows you to precisely increase or decrease the overall level of the audio signal. Use this for subtle corrections or as a utility before other effects that are sensitive to input levels.

  3. Control Left/Right Channel Gain Separately

If you have a stereo track, the 'L-Gain' and 'R-Gain' knobs become active. Use these to adjust the gain of the left and right channels independently, allowing for stereo balancing or fixing level discrepancies between channels.

  4. Utilize Phase Invert and DC Offset

Check the 'Phase Invert' button to flip the polarity of the audio signal, which can be useful for correcting phase issues in multi-miked recordings. The 'DC Offset' slider can remove any unwanted direct current offset from the audio, ensuring a clean signal.
