Steps

  1. Load Alchemy on an Instrument Track

Create a new Software Instrument track ('Option-Cmd-S') and select 'Alchemy' from the 'Instrument' drop-down menu in the Inspector. This initializes the Alchemy plugin, opening its interface for sound design.

  2. Explore Presets and Sources

Begin by browsing Alchemy's extensive preset library by clicking the 'Browser' button at the top of the plugin window. Experiment with different sound categories and then examine the 'Source Selectors' (A, B, C, D) to understand how different sound sources are blended.

  3. Manipulate Sound Sources

Click on a 'Source Selector' (e.g., 'A') and navigate to the 'Source' tab to load various types of waveforms, samples, or spectral data. Utilize controls like 'Osc' for traditional synthesis, 'Add' for additive, 'Spec' for spectral, and 'Imp' for granular to dramatically alter the sound character.

  4. Apply and Modulate Effects

Access the 'Effects' tab within Alchemy to apply a wide range of onboard effects. Use the modulation section at the bottom of the interface to assign LFOs, envelopes, or other modulators to effect parameters, creating dynamic and evolving sounds.
