Steps

  1. Insert Fruity Parametric EQ 2

Open the Mixer (F9) and select the desired mixer track. In an empty effect slot, click and choose 'Fruity Parametric EQ 2' from the 'Select effect' list. This will add the equalizer to your track.

  2. Identify Problem Frequencies

Play your audio. Grab one of the colored band points in the EQ interface, boost its gain significantly, and sweep it across the frequency spectrum. Listen for harsh or muddy resonances and note their frequencies.

  3. Cut Unwanted Frequencies

Once a problematic frequency is identified, lower the gain of that band point to attenuate it. Use the 'Bandwidth' (Q) control to make the cut narrow for precise removal or wide for a gentler, broader reduction.

  4. Boost Desired Frequencies

To enhance specific elements, raise the gain of a band point at a desired frequency. For example, boost around 2-5 kHz for vocal presence or 60-100 Hz for bass warmth. Use gentle boosts to avoid harshness.

  5. Utilize High-Pass and Low-Pass Filters

Select band 1 (leftmost) and change its 'Type' to a 'Low Cut Filter' to remove unwanted low-end rumble. Similarly, select band 7 (rightmost) and change its 'Type' to a 'High Cut Filter' to clean up high-end harshness or hiss.
