Steps

  1. Splitting an Audio Clip

In the Playlist, select the 'Cut' tool (razor blade icon). Click on the audio clip at the point where you want to split it. The clip will be divided into two independent parts.

  2. Fine-Tuning Splits

For precise cuts, zoom in on the Playlist (Ctrl + Mouse Wheel) and ensure your 'Snap to grid' setting is off or set to a very small division. You can also hold 'Shift' while cutting to bypass the snap setting.

  3. Joining Audio Clips (Consolidating)

To join multiple audio clips into a single new audio file, first select the clips in the Playlist using the 'Select' tool (right-click and drag). Ensure they are on the same track.

  4. Use 'Consolidate track' or 'Render as audio clip'

Right-click on the Playlist track header (where the track name is) and select 'Consolidate track > From track start'. This will render all selected clips and effects on that track into a new single audio clip.

  5. Bouncing a Selection

Alternatively, select a time range in the Playlist, then go to 'File' > 'Export' > 'Wave file' (or MP3). In the render dialog, ensure 'Playlist selection' is chosen. This renders the selected portion into a new audio file outside the project, which you can then re-import.
