Steps

  1. Quantizing MIDI Notes in Piano Roll

Open the Piano Roll (F7) for the desired instrument. Select the notes you want to quantize (Ctrl+A for all). Press 'Ctrl+Q' for Quick Quantize. For more options, go to 'Tools' > 'Quantize' to open the Quantizer settings panel, where you can adjust strength, grid, and swing.

  2. Quantizing Audio Clips in Playlist

Place your audio clip in the Playlist. Ensure the 'Snap to grid' setting in the Playlist toolbar is set to a suitable value (e.g., 'Bar', 'Beat', or smaller divisions for fine tuning).

  3. Using the 'Snap' Option for Audio

With audio clips, simply dragging them with the 'Snap to grid' enabled will automatically align their start points. For precise alignment, hold down 'Alt' for fine manual adjustments even when snap is on.

  4. Time Stretching for Beat Matching

If an audio clip doesn't line up, double-click it in the Playlist to open its 'Channel Settings'. Under the 'Time' section, ensure 'Time stretching method' is set correctly (e.g., 'Auto') and adjust the 'Time' knob or 'Tempo' sync to stretch the audio to fit the project's tempo.

  5. Slicing and Quantizing Audio

For more intricate audio quantization, use the 'Slicex' plugin to slice audio into individual beats, then arrange and quantize those slices individually, or use the 'Newtime' plugin for advanced time manipulation.
