How to sidechain in FL Studio?

Steps

  1. Route the Kick to the Bass Mixer Track

    In the Mixer (F9), select the kick drum's mixer track. At the bottom, click the send arrow on the bass mixer track to create a sidechain route.

  2. Add Fruity Limiter to the Bass

    On the bass mixer track, add Fruity Limiter as an effect.

  3. Set Up Sidechain Input

    In Fruity Limiter, go to the COMP (compressor) section. Click the Sidechain input selector and choose the kick drum's mixer track as the sidechain source.

  4. Adjust Compression Settings

    Lower the Threshold so the compressor activates when the kick hits. Set a fast Attack and a medium Release so the bass ducks when the kick plays and recovers smoothly.
