How to set ASIO drivers

Optimize your audio performance in FL Studio by correctly setting up and configuring ASIO drivers for low latency and stable playback.

Steps

  1. Open Audio Settings

In FL Studio, go to 'Options > Audio settings' (or press F10) to access the audio configuration panel. This is where you select your hardware and driver options.

  2. Select Your ASIO Driver

Under the 'Device' section, click the dropdown menu and select the ASIO driver for your audio interface (e.g., 'Focusrite USB ASIO', 'Universal Audio Apollo', or 'FL Studio ASIO' if you don't have a dedicated interface). Ensure you install your interface's specific ASIO driver beforehand.

  3. Adjust Buffer Size

Click 'Show ASIO panel' next to the 'Device' dropdown to open your driver's specific control panel. Adjust the 'Buffer size' or 'Latency' setting; a lower buffer size reduces latency but requires more CPU, while a higher buffer size increases latency but reduces CPU strain.

  4. Monitor Underruns

Keep an eye on the 'Underruns (dropouts)' counter in the FL Studio Audio Settings. If this number increases rapidly during playback, your buffer size might be too low, and you should increase it until underruns stop.
