Steps
Scan for New Plugins
After installing a VST plugin, open FL Studio and go to 'Options > Manage Plugins'. In the Plugin Manager, ensure your VST plugin paths are listed in the 'Plugin search paths' section. Click 'Find more plugins' to scan these folders for new VSTs. New plugins will appear highlighted in yellow.
Add VST Instruments to Channels
To add a VST instrument, click the 'Add button (+)' at the bottom of the Channel Rack and select 'More plugins...'. Navigate to the 'Generators' section, find your VSTi (Virtual Studio Technology Instrument), and click it to load it into a new Channel. You can also drag it from the Browser under 'Plugin database > Generators'.
Load VST Effects into the Mixer
To add a VST effect, open the Mixer (F9). Select an Insert track, and in the FX slots section on the right, click an empty slot. From the plugin selector, navigate to the 'FX' section to find and load your desired VST effect. This will apply the effect to all audio routed through that Mixer track.
Favorite and Rename Plugins
In the Plugin Manager ('Options > Manage Plugins'), check the 'Favorite' box next to frequently used plugins to make them appear at the top of the plugin selector lists. You can also right-click a plugin in these lists and select 'Rename' to give it a more memorable name for quick access.
