Steps

  1. Open Piano Roll or Step Sequencer

Access the Piano Roll for detailed MIDI editing by double-clicking a pattern clip in the Playlist or a Channel rack step. For simpler patterns, the Channel Rack provides a direct way to view steps.

  2. Apply a Quantization Template

In the Piano Roll, click the 'Quantize' icon (or press Ctrl+Q) and select a 'Quantization template' that includes swing, such as the 'Swing' presets. This will apply a general swing feel to your notes.

  3. Adjust Swing Mix and Strength

After applying a template, fine-tune the swing by opening the Quantizer settings from the Piano Roll tools. Modify the 'Mix' parameter to control the amount of quantization, and the 'Swing' knob to adjust the intensity of the swing effect.

  4. Edit Individual Note Timing

For precise control, manually adjust individual note positions in the Piano Roll after applying swing. You can also use the 'Shift' and 'Alt' keys with the mouse to subtly nudge notes for a more humanized feel.
