Steps

  1. Standard Save (Live Set)

To save your current progress, go to 'File' > 'Save Live Set' (Cmd+S / Ctrl+S). This updates the existing .als file within your project folder.

  2. Save As (New Live Set)

To save a new version or an entirely new project, go to 'File' > 'Save Live Set As...' (Cmd+Shift+S / Ctrl+Shift+S). This allows you to rename the project and choose a new location.

  3. Collect All and Save

This is crucial for sharing or archiving projects. Go to 'File' > 'Collect All and Save'. This gathers all external files (samples, audio recordings, impulse responses, etc.) that your Live Set uses and copies them into the current Project folder, ensuring nothing goes missing.

  4. Utilize Project Folders

Ableton Live automatically creates a project folder when you save a new Live Set. Keep all related files (recordings, samples, exports) within this folder to maintain organization and avoid missing media.

  5. Creating a Live Pack

To share your project or back it up efficiently, consider creating a Live Pack. Go to 'File' > 'Export Audio/Video' > 'Create Live Pack'. This bundles your set and its media into a single .alp file.
