Steps

  1. Add Custom Folders

In the Browser sidebar under Places, click Add Folder. Navigate to any folder on your hard drive containing samples, presets, or projects. The folder appears in the Browser for quick access.

  2. Use Collections

The colored labels (red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple) at the top of the Browser are Collections. Right-click any item and choose a color to tag it. Click a Collection color to see all items tagged with that color.

  3. Search the Browser

Click the search field at the top of the Browser (or press Ctrl+F / Cmd+F) and type keywords. Ableton searches across all locations including installed packs, user library, and custom folders.

  4. Create User Folders

In your User Library, create subfolders for different categories (Drums, Synths, FX, etc.). Drag presets, racks, and clips into these folders to build your own organized library.

  5. Bookmark with Places

Drag frequently used folders into the Places section of the Browser sidebar for instant access. Remove unused ones by right-clicking and choosing Remove from Sidebar.
