Learn to automate resonance in FL Studio, adding dynamic sweeps and evolving tonal qualities to your synthesizers and effects.

Steps

  1. Select a Filter with Resonance

Identify a plugin with a 'Resonance' or 'Q' parameter you want to automate. This could be a synthesizer like Sytrus, a filter effect like Fruity Filter, or Parametric EQ 2.

  2. Create an Automation Clip

Right-click directly on the 'Resonance' or 'Q' knob in the chosen plugin's interface. From the context menu, select 'Create automation clip'. This will generate a new automation clip in the Playlist.

  3. Draw Automation in Playlist

In the Playlist, use the 'Draw' tool or 'Pencil' tool to create a curve for the automation clip. Draw increasing or decreasing curves to create sweeps, or sharp spikes for percussive filter effects.

  4. Fine-Tune Automation Curve

Edit the control points of the automation clip by clicking and dragging them. Right-click on a point to change its curve type (e.g., 'Single curve', 'Double curve') for smoother or more abrupt changes in resonance.
