Steps
Select Target Parameter
Load a synth or effect plugin with a 'Cutoff' knob onto a Channel Rack slot or Mixer insert. For example, insert a Fruity Filter onto a drum loop's Mixer track.
Create Automation Clip
Right-click on the 'Cutoff' knob of the plugin you wish to automate. From the context menu, select 'Create automation clip'. This will generate an automation clip in the Playlist.
Draw Automation Curve
In the Playlist, left-click on the automation clip to add control points. Drag these points and adjust the curves between them to create the desired filter sweep, such as a gradual opening or a rhythmic pulse.
Refine Automation
Use the various curve types (right-click between points) to achieve smooth or abrupt transitions. Experiment with the range of the automation clip by adjusting the minimum and maximum values in the clip's settings.
