Steps

  1. Open the Score Editor

Select a MIDI region in the Tracks Area and press 'N' to open the Score Editor, or double-click the MIDI region and then select the 'Score' tab if not already visible. The Score Editor displays your MIDI notes as musical notation.

  2. Edit Notes and Add Symbols

In the Score Editor, you can click and drag notes to change their pitch and duration. Use the 'Parts' tab on the left to select which instruments are displayed. Access the 'List Tab' in the Inspector to find various musical symbols like ties, slurs, dynamics, and articulations to drag onto your score. You can also select the 'Insert' dropdown in the local menu bar at the top of the Score Editor to add symbols.

  3. Customize Layout and Staff Style

Open the 'Layout' menu in the Score Editor's local menu bar to adjust system breaks, page breaks, and general page settings. In the 'Staff Style' window (available from the 'Settings' dropdown in the track header within the Score Editor or the Inspector), you can change clefs, key signatures, and other notation conventions for individual tracks.

  4. Print Your Score

Once your score is complete, go to 'File > Print Selected Tracks' to print only the selected tracks, or 'File > Print' to print the entire project's score. Ensure your printer settings are correct for optimal output.
