Steps

  1. Create an Audio Track

In the Logic Pro Tracks Area, click the '+' button at the top of the track list to open the New Tracks dialog. Choose 'Audio' as the track type, ensure 'Input' is set to your microphone's input, and enable 'Record Enable'. Click 'Create' to add the track.

  2. Set Input Monitoring and Gain

On your newly created audio track, click the 'Input Monitoring' button (looks like a speaker icon) to hear your microphone input. Adjust the gain on your audio interface to achieve a healthy input level, aiming for peaks around -6dB to -3dB on Logic Pro's channel meter without clipping.

  3. Record Your Vocals

Position the playhead where you want to start recording. To begin, click the 'Record' button in the control bar or press 'R'. Sing into your microphone, and Logic Pro will capture your performance. To stop recording, click the 'Stop' button or press the spacebar.

  4. Quick Punch-In Recording (Optional)

For quick corrections, set the cycle area around the section you want to re-record. Logic Pro will automatically punch in and out when recording within this cycle area, making it easy to fix small mistakes non-destructively.
