Steps

  1. Adjust Buffer Size

Go to 'Logic Pro > Settings > Audio' (Cmd-, then System Settings). In the 'Devices' tab, adjust the 'I/O Buffer Size'. A larger buffer size reduces CPU load and memory usage during playback but increases latency.

  2. Enable Low Latency Monitoring

When recording, activate 'Low Latency Monitoring' from the 'Record' menu to temporarily bypass latency-inducing plugins. This frees up memory and CPU for a smoother recording experience without affecting playback.

  3. Freeze Tracks

Right-click on a track header in the Tracks Area and select 'Track Header Components > Freeze' to enable the Freeze button. Click the Freeze button on CPU-intensive tracks to render them temporarily, saving CPU and memory resources.

  4. Manage Undo Steps

Navigate to 'Logic Pro > Settings > General' (Cmd-, then General). In the 'Project Handling' tab, adjust the 'Number of Undo Steps' to a lower value if memory is critical, as each undo step consumes RAM.
