Steps

  1. Open GarageBand Project from Logic Pro

In Logic Pro, go to 'File > Open...' and navigate to your GarageBand project file (.band) on your computer. Select the file and click 'Open'. Logic Pro will prompt you to convert the project.

  2. Confirm Project Conversion

Logic Pro will ask if you want to convert the GarageBand project. Click 'Convert' to proceed. The tracks, regions, and most plugin settings will be transferred into a new Logic Pro project.

  3. Review and Reassign Instruments/Plugins

After conversion, review your tracks in the Tracks Area. Some GarageBand instruments or effects may be replaced by their Logic Pro equivalents or placeholders. Reassign or adjust any missing or incorrect instrument sounds or plugin settings as needed.

  4. Save as Logic Pro Project

Once the project is open and you've confirmed the conversion, immediately go to 'File > Save As...' to save it as a new Logic Pro project (.logicx). This ensures you have a dedicated Logic Pro version separate from your original GarageBand file.
