How to zoom in Ableton Live?

Learn the different ways to zoom in and out of your timeline and clips in Ableton Live.

Steps

  1. Zoom with Scroll Wheel

    Hold Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) and scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out horizontally on the timeline. The zoom focuses on your mouse cursor position.

  2. Zoom Vertically

    Hold Alt and scroll to zoom track heights vertically. You can also drag the bottom edge of a track header to resize individual tracks.

  3. Zoom to Selection

    Select a clip or time range, then press Z to zoom in on the selection. Press X to zoom back out to show all content.

  4. Overview Bar

    Click and drag in the Overview bar at the top of Arrangement View to quickly navigate and zoom across the entire timeline. Drag the edges of the highlighted area to zoom in or out.
