Steps

  1. Insert the Echo Device

From the 'Browser' under 'Audio Effects', drag the 'Echo' device onto an audio or MIDI track in Session View or Arrangement View. The Echo device will appear in the Device View.

  2. Set Delay Time and Feedback

Adjust the 'Time' knob (or 'Time (L)'/'Time (R)' for independent stereo control) to set the delay interval. Use the 'Feedback' knob to control how many repetitions the delay creates. For synced delays, ensure 'Sync' is enabled and choose a rhythmic division (e.g., 1/4, 1/8).

  3. Shape the Delay with Filters and Ducking

Utilize the 'High' and 'Low' filter knobs in the 'Character' section to sculpt the tone of the delayed signal. Use the 'Ducking' section to make the delay fade out when the dry signal is present, then reappear, creating space and clarity in your mix.

  4. Add Modulation and Noise

Explore the 'Modulation' section to add movement to the delay feedback, from subtle wow and flutter to pitch-shifting effects. Introduce 'Noise' and adjust its 'Color' and 'Amount' for added vintage character or lo-fi texture.

  5. Control Dry/Wet Mix

Finally, use the large 'Dry/Wet' knob to blend the original signal with the processed, delayed signal. For typical sends/returns, set to 100% wet, but for insert effects, blend to taste.
