How to undo in Ableton Live?

Learn how to undo and redo actions in Ableton Live to quickly fix mistakes.

Getting Started · beginner level

Steps

  1. Undo an Action

Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) or go to Edit > Undo. Ableton supports multiple levels of undo, so you can step back through many recent actions.

  2. Redo an Action

Press Ctrl+Y (Cmd+Shift+Z on Mac) or go to Edit > Redo to restore an action you just undid.

  3. Undo History Limitations

The undo history resets when you save and close a project. Certain actions like moving the playhead or adjusting the view are not included in the undo history since they do not affect the project content.
