Steps
Select Clips or Tracks
In either Session View or Arrangement View, select the audio or MIDI clips whose colors you wish to change. You can select multiple clips by holding Shift or Ctrl/Cmd. You can also color entire tracks by selecting the track title.
Open Color Palette
Once clips or tracks are selected, right-click on any of the selected items. A context menu will appear, and you will see a color palette near the top. Alternatively, in the Clip View or Track View panels below, click the 'Color' box.
Choose a Color
From the color palette, click on the desired color to apply it to the selected clips or tracks. Ableton Live offers a wide range of colors for visual organization. You can also right-click a color and select 'Edit Color...' to create custom colors.
Assign Default Clip Colors (Optional)
To set a default color for newly recorded or created clips, open 'Options' (Windows) or 'Live' (macOS) menu > 'Preferences' > 'Look/Feel'. Under 'Default Clip Color', select 'Clip Color on Track Color' to match the track, or pick a specific color from the palette.
