How to launch clips in Ableton Live?

Learn how to trigger and launch clips in Session View in Ableton Live.

Steps

  1. Launch a Single Clip

    In Session View, click the triangular Play button on any clip slot to launch that clip. It will start playing on the next quantization boundary (set in the Quantization menu in the top-left).

  2. Launch a Scene

    Click the triangular Play button on a scene number (right side of Session View) to launch all clips in that row simultaneously across all tracks.

  3. Set Launch Quantization

    In the Control Bar, click the Quantization dropdown to set when clips start playing: 1 Bar, 1/2, 1/4, None, etc. Setting it to 1 Bar means clips will launch on the next bar line.

  4. Stop Clips

    Click the square Stop button in an empty clip slot to stop a playing clip on that track. Click the square Stop All button below the scene list to stop all clips.
