Installing and updating plug-ins with Studio, and rescanning in your DAW
Install or update VYRE, ChordEngine, and PumpCurve in Music-Prod Studio and rescan them in Logic Pro, FL Studio, Ableton Live, and GarageBand.
Plug-ins & VYRE: Installing AU and VST3 plug-ins, rescanning in your DAW, and using VYRE.
Steps
- Sign in to Music-Prod Studio and open Plugins in the sidebar (under Workshop), or Updates. Each plug-in shows its status ("Licensed", "Included with Music-Prod+", "Free", "Demo", or "Not licensed") and Install or Update.
- Close your DAWs before installing: a running DAW keeps using the old plug-in.
- Click Install or Update. Studio downloads Music-Prod's signed, notarized installer and opens it in the macOS Installer.
- Finish the macOS Installer (it asks for your Mac password), then click "I've finished installing" in Studio. Plug-ins are installed system-wide, for every DAW, in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (AU) and /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 (VST3). These locations can't be changed.
- In Logic Pro (AU only): quit and reopen Logic Pro. If a plug-in is missing or shows as failed, open Logic Pro ▸ Settings (or Preferences) ▸ Plug-in Manager, select the plug-in, click "Reset & Rescan Selection", and make sure "Use" is ticked. ChordEngine's MIDI FX appears in the MIDI FX slot.
- In FL Studio (AU or VST3 on Mac): open Options ▸ Manage plugins, click "Find installed plugins" to rescan, and tick the plug-in so it appears in the browser and Add menu.
- In Ableton Live: open Settings ▸ Plug-Ins, turn on "Use Audio Units v2/v3" and/or "Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders", and click Rescan (hold Option for a full rescan).
- In GarageBand (AU only): quit and reopen GarageBand.
Troubleshooting
Studio warns "An old copy of X is getting in the way" or your DAW loads an old version
Click "Fix" in Studio to move the old copy in your user folder to the Trash. To check by hand, use Finder ▸ Go ▸ Go to Folder…, type ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins, and remove old copies from Components or VST3. Keep only one copy of each plug-in.
Studio says "Sign in to confirm your license before this plugin can be downloaded."
Sign in to Music-Prod Studio, then refresh Plugins. Licences are assigned to the signed-in account; licence codes can't be redeemed in Studio.
A plug-in shows "Demo" or "Not licensed" although you have Music-Prod+
Check that you are signed in with the same account in Studio and on the plug-in's INFO page, and that your membership is active on music-prod.com/billing. Then refresh Plugins in Studio. Still wrong? Ask the Help chat.
How to uninstall a plug-in or release a computer
Studio has no uninstall button: quit your DAW and delete the plug-in from /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3. PumpCurve runs on up to three computers at a time, and you can release a computer from your Music-Prod profile page. A ChordEngine licence key works on up to three computers.
The plug-in still doesn't show up in your DAW
Check that the file is in the folders above, remove old copies, and restart your Mac. If it is still missing, ask the Help chat.
