Export to DAW, and Export as plugin
Send your Plugin Studio designs to your DAW with Music-Prod Plugin Studio, or build standalone AU and VST3 Mac plug-ins to use and sell.
Plugin Studio: Designing your own plug-ins, exporting to your DAW or as a standalone Mac plug-in, and the Plugin Gallery.
Steps
- Sign in with Music-Prod+ (paid or lifetime). Export to DAW works with your own designs and with copies from the Plugin Gallery; only the creator can use Export as plugin.
- Export to DAW: with Music-Prod Studio open on your Mac and signed in with the same account, click "Send to my DAW". Studio adds the design to Music-Prod Plugin Studio, our AU / VST3 plug-in for Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, and other AU or VST3 hosts (Music-Prod Studio installs and updates it). Open Music-Prod Plugin Studio on a track and pick the design from its menu.
- Export as plugin turns your own design into a standalone AU + VST3 plug-in for Mac (Apple silicon and Intel) that you can use and sell. It is made in Music-Prod Studio on your Mac, in Studio versions after 2.0.76; older Studio versions and the website show "Export from Music-Prod Studio on your Mac". In Studio, open the plug-in in Plugin Studio and press "Export as plugin".
- Set the name, maker, version, and formats, then click "Calculate cost" to see the approximate cost first. Building happens on your Mac and uses no AI, so it costs no credits. The only paid option is "Remove Music-Prod branding": 10,000 credits once per plug-in (the MUSIC-PROD mark and footer are hidden only after that payment; later versions don't pay again).
- Choose how to sign it. "Sign with my Apple Developer account" signs it with your own Apple Developer account (your Developer ID certificate) and a notarytool profile you create once in Terminal (Studio shows the command; you type your own Apple ID password there, and Music-Prod never sees or stores it), so the plug-in can be sold and opens on any Mac. Without an account, "Personal use (unsigned)" makes a build that only runs on your own Mac.
- When it's done, click Reveal in Finder, or "Install for me" (it installs into your own Library/Audio/Plug-Ins). Exports are listed with their versions in My Plugins; "Re-export" makes an update (the version must be newer, and projects in your DAW keep their settings).
Troubleshooting
Clicking "Send to my DAW" does nothing
Music-Prod Studio must be open on your Mac, signed in with the same account, and up to date. Then open Music-Prod Plugin Studio on a track and pick the design from its menu.
Can I export a plug-in I added from the Plugin Gallery as a standalone plug-in?
No. Only the creator can export a design as a standalone plug-in or sell it. A Plugin Gallery copy is used with Export to DAW.
Can I sell exported plug-ins, or add licence keys and demo modes for buyers?
Plug-ins you export are licensed to you to use and sell, and Music-Prod takes no cut. Licence keys and demo modes for buyers are not available yet.
