CoProducer modes: Chat, Creative, and Work in DAW

Learn what Chat, Creative, and Work in DAW do in CoProducer, how models and credits work, and how reference tracks and plans work.

CoProducer: Using Chat, Creative, and Work in DAW modes, sharing audio clips, and getting mixing help.

Steps

  1. Open CoProducer in Music-Prod Studio (sidebar ▸ CoProducer) or on the web at music-prod.com/coproducer. CoProducer needs Music-Prod+ (paid, trial, or lifetime; on an unpaid trial, Creative mode is locked). Signed out on the web, you get free Chat only (CoProducer Mini, 10 chats a day, kept in that browser).
  2. Pick Chat to ask questions and get feedback about making music: arrangement, sound design, mixing, mastering, music theory, or how to do things in your DAW. Chat can't see or click on your screen, but it can listen to a clip you share.
  3. Pick Creative (paid or lifetime Music-Prod+) to write chords, melodies, bass lines, and beats as MIDI, drum loops from genre kits, and one-shot sounds, as cards you can play and drag into a DAW. A sound costs about 50 credits. Make Unique makes variations of a library sample.
  4. In Studio 2.0.74+, Creative shows what a message will cost next to Send before you send it (for example "≈ 14–17 credits": typical to at most). A big request, such as "recreate this track" or a full track, first gets a short plan ("Plan ≈ 1 credit"; "Nothing is written until you agree"): click "Write the parts (≈ N credits)" or "Change the plan". The website's Creative mode answers directly, without a plan or an estimate.
  5. Pick Work in DAW (Music-Prod Studio on Mac only) and CoProducer operates Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, or GarageBand by clicking and typing: for example, it adds tracks, sets the tempo, or puts an EQ, compressor, or reverb on a track and sets it. It can also build drum loops from genre kits and place loops and sounds from Studio's library. It needs Accessibility and Screen Recording. Press Esc at any time to stop it (there is also Pause).
  6. Choose a model: CoProducer Mini (lowest cost, Chat only), CoProducer ("fast and affordable"), CoProducer Max (the default; about 10× CoProducer in Chat, 20× in DAW), SuperProducer (most capable; about 18× in Chat, 40× in DAW), or SuperProducer Fast (DAW only, about 80×). In Creative, the names are Music-Prod Producer 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0. If your credits run out quickly, pick a cheaper model.

Troubleshooting

"Creative mode unlocks when your Music-Prod+ trial converts to a paid plan"

On an unpaid 7-day Music-Prod+ trial, Chat and Work in DAW work with your 100 trial credits. Creative mode unlocks when your trial converts to a paid plan.

CoProducer can't control your DAW in Work in DAW mode

Make sure Accessibility and Screen Recording are turned on for Music-Prod Studio in System Settings, restart Studio, and keep Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, or GarageBand open and in front.

Using a reference track in Creative or Work in DAW

Add or drop a song's audio (on the website: Creative's "Add a reference track" button; WAV, MP3, M4A, AIFF, or OGG, at least 5 seconds). It is measured on your computer (tempo, key, chords, energy, sound balance, groove), and CoProducer makes something new in the same style. It can't copy the song itself (not the recording, a melody, vocal line, hook, or riff) and never names or guesses the artist or song. Only the measurements are sent, unless you choose listening with AI and agree: then a clip of up to 30 seconds goes to Google's Gemini AI and isn't kept. The website's reference-track button never uploads audio. Only use audio you own or have the right to use.
