CoProducer listening: clips, microphone, Listen to my DAW, and "listen in detail"

Share audio files, record from your microphone, capture what your DAW plays, or opt in to detailed AI listening.

CoProducer: Using Chat, Creative, and Work in DAW modes, sharing audio clips, and getting mixing help.

Steps

  1. Sign in with Music-Prod+ (paid, trial, or lifetime) in Music-Prod Studio 2.0.74 or later, or on music-prod.com/coproducer. In Studio, the round buttons left of the message box appear once Credits loads. The free signed-out chat can't listen.
  2. To share an audio file in Studio, click the waveform-with-plus button ("Add audio for CoProducer to listen to"), or drop a file (or a region dragged out of your DAW) anywhere on the chat, in any mode. On the website, use "Share an audio clip" (the headphones button) or paste a clip; in Chat you can also drop one. Studio reads WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, FLAC, or CAF; the browser reads WAV, MP3, M4A, AIFF, or FLAC. Only use audio you own or have the right to use.
  3. To record from your microphone, click the microphone button (in Studio: "Record up to 30 seconds from your microphone"). In Studio, a "Recording from your microphone" bar shows Stop and Discard, and recording stops by itself at 30 seconds.
  4. To let CoProducer hear your DAW (Studio, Work in DAW only), open the DAW first, click the ear button ("Listen to Logic Pro", or whichever DAW you picked), press play in the DAW, then click "Use the last N s" (10 up to 30 seconds) to add it to your next message. Studio keeps only the last 30 seconds of what the DAW plays, in memory, hears only the DAW's own output, and doesn't change the DAW's audio settings. Stop ends it and forgets the audio; it also stops when you change mode or DAW, quit the DAW or Studio, or leave the CoProducer page.
  5. Send your message. The clip (up to 30 seconds; a longer file uses its loudest 30 seconds unless you choose where it starts, in Studio with "From the start" or "Use from…") is measured on your Mac or in your browser: tempo, key, chords, loudness and peak, frequency balance, dynamics, and transients. Only that text goes to CoProducer ("Analysed on your Mac · not uploaded"); the audio and the file name stay on your computer. The analysis is free; the message itself uses credits like any other (at least 1).
  6. For a real listen (opt-in): in Chat and Work in DAW in Studio, use "Let CoProducer listen in detail" on the clip, then "Listen in detail" in the confirmation; anything typed in the message box goes along as the question. On the website, use "Let CoProducer listen in detail", an optional "Anything to listen for?", then Listen. In Creative in Studio, use the "Listen with AI" switch on the clip: Studio asks once ("Let CoProducer listen with AI?"), and after that the switch starts on for each new clip (you can switch it off). Only then is the clip (up to 30 seconds, mono) uploaded, to Google's Gemini AI, which describes it like a producer. Music-Prod doesn't store the clip, Google doesn't use it to improve its products, and only the written report is kept with the chat. This adds a few credits.

Troubleshooting

The listening buttons don't show up in Music-Prod Studio

Update to Music-Prod Studio 2.0.74 or later (Settings ▸ Updates ▸ Check Now), make sure you are signed in with Music-Prod+, and wait for Credits to load.

"Open Logic Pro first, then turn on Listen." or "Use the last N s" doesn't work

Listen to my DAW works only in Work in DAW mode, with Screen Recording turned on for Music-Prod Studio in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Screen & System Audio Recording (if Studio says "Listen needs Screen Recording for Music-Prod Studio.", go to Settings ▸ Permissions). Open the DAW first and press play: "Use the last N s" needs at least 10 seconds heard.

"Microphone access is off for Music-Prod Studio."

Use the Settings ▸ Permissions button Studio shows, and turn on Microphone for Music-Prod Studio in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Microphone.

"Listen in detail" failed, or the stereo width and panning aren't judged

If detailed listening fails, nothing is charged for listening: try again later, or top up if your credits ran out (without enough credits, CoProducer uses the measurements only). Clips are mono, so stereo width and panning can't be judged from them. Measurements are approximate: the tempo may be half or double, and the key may be its relative major or minor.
