A few tricks I use to get wide synth sounds without phase issues:

• Detune two oscillators slightly (5-10 cents)
• Pan a short delay hard left/right (10-20ms)
• Use a stereo widener on the high frequencies only
• Layer a mono version underneath for center stability

Don't go crazy with widening plugins though, always check in mono!
