Ableton has released firmware version 2.5 for Push 3 Standalone, adding highly requested features including a built-in sampler, improved audio routing, and support for third-party plugins via a new SDK.

The built-in sampler is arguably the biggest addition. You can now record audio directly into Push 3 and immediately slice, stretch, and manipulate samples without ever touching a computer. The sampler supports up to 8 layers per pad and includes granular synthesis capabilities.

Third-Party Plugin Support

Perhaps even more exciting is the introduction of the Push Plugin SDK, which allows developers to create native plugins for Push 3 Standalone. Several major developers, including Arturia, u-he, and Valhalla DSP, have already announced support. Valhalla SuperMassive is expected to be the first third-party plugin available.

The update also improves battery life by approximately 20% and adds Bluetooth MIDI support for connecting external controllers and instruments wirelessly.
